Submission Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in contributing to Imkanat. We welcome original, thoughtful, and well-researched submissions from scholars, researchers, educators, students, and professionals. Our objective is to provide a platform for rigorous scholarship, constructive dialogue, and meaningful intellectual engagement.

Before submitting your work, please review the following guidelines carefully.


Scope of Submissions

We accept original manuscripts in the following areas:

Note: Imkanat welcomes rigorous scholarship across religious traditions and does not privilege or endorse any single religious viewpoint.

Interdisciplinary contributions are also encouraged where they contribute meaningfully to scholarly discussion.

We welcome the following categories of submissions:

Language

Manuscripts may be submitted in:

  • English
  • Urdu

Authors should ensure that the language is clear, professional, and grammatically accurate.


Originality

All submissions must:

  • Be original work.
  • Not have been published previously.
  • Not be under consideration by another publication.
  • Properly acknowledge all sources through appropriate citations.
  • Comply with Imkanat’s Publication Ethics and Editorial Policy.

Plagiarism or duplicate publication will result in rejection.


Formatting Requirements

Please prepare your manuscript using the following guidelines:

  • Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format preferred.
  • A4 page size.
  • 14 pt fonts — Times New Roman or Calibri for English submissions and Jameel Noori Nastaleeq or Maher Nastaliq Urdu for Urdu submissions.
  • 1.5 line spacing.
  • Standard page margins.
  • Consecutively numbered pages.
  • Headings and subheadings clearly structured.

References and Citations

Authors should use a consistent citation style throughout the manuscript. We recommend one of the following:

  • Chicago Manual of Style
  • APA (7th Edition)
  • MLA (Latest Edition)

Footnotes and endnotes should be used only where appropriate.


Images, Tables, and Figures

Where applicable:

  • Submit high-resolution images (minimum 300 dpi).
  • Clearly label all tables and figures.
  • Provide captions and source information.
  • Ensure permission has been obtained for copyrighted material.

Author Information

Please include a separate cover page containing:

  • Full Name
  • Institutional Affiliation
  • Position or Designation (if applicable)
  • Short Biography (50–100 words)
  • Email Address
  • ORCID ID (optional)
  • Contact Number (optional)

To support impartial editorial review, the main manuscript should not include identifying information unless specifically requested.


Editorial Review Process

Every submission undergoes an editorial review process, which generally includes:

  1. Initial screening for scope and formatting.
  2. Assessment of originality and scholarly quality.
  3. Review for clarity, structure, and language.
  4. Fact-checking and source verification where appropriate.
  5. Editorial feedback or revision requests.
  6. Final editorial decision.

Submission does not guarantee publication.


Revision Process

Authors can generally expect to receive an initial editorial decision within 4 to 6 weeks of submission.

Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts before publication.

Requested revisions should be returned within the timeframe specified by the Editorial Office.


Copyright

Authors retain copyright to their original work.

By accepting publication, authors grant Imkanat a non-exclusive license to publish, archive, distribute, and promote the work across its digital and print platforms while ensuring proper attribution.


Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Authors may use AI-assisted tools for language editing or proofreading. However:

  • Authors remain fully responsible for the content.
  • AI-generated material must not replace original scholarly work.
  • Significant use of AI tools should be disclosed where appropriate.
  • AI tools cannot be credited as authors.

Ethical Standards

Authors must adhere to the ethical principles outlined in our Publication Ethics and Editorial Policy, including:

  • Academic integrity
  • Accurate citation
  • Respect for intellectual property
  • Responsible research practices
  • Disclosure of conflicts of interest

Editorial Decision

Authors will receive one of the following decisions:

  • Accepted
  • Accepted with Minor Revisions
  • Major Revisions Required
  • Resubmit After Revision
  • Declined

The Editorial Board’s decision is final.


Article Processing Charge (APC)

Imkanat does not currently charge authors any submission, processing, or publication fees.
