Ajmal Farooq is an Islamic scholar, researcher, and academic with more than 10 years of professional experience in Islamic Studies, literature, history, and scholarly research. He currently serves as In-Charge of Research Works at the Institute of Objective Studies, New Delhi, where he is engaged in academic research and related scholarly activities.
Born in Deoband on 1 January 1986, Ajmal Farooq comes from a distinguished scholarly and literary family. His father, Dr. Tabish Mehdi, was a renowned Urdu critic and poet, while his mother is an accomplished calligrapher and the great-granddaughter of Shaikhul Hind Maulana Mahmood Hasan Deobandi.
He completed his ʿĀlimiyyah from Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow, and subsequently earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. degrees from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. His academic and intellectual development was further enriched by nearly two years in Madinah Munawwarah, where he benefited from distinguished Arab scholars, Muhaddithin, and renowned libraries.
In addition to his research position, he serves as the Assistant General Secretary of the All India Milli Council and as Sub-Editor of the fortnightly magazine Mutaleaat. These roles reflect his continuing engagement with academic research, institutional affairs, and contemporary intellectual discourse.
